Ethylene Oxide Leak Handling when using eto sterilizer

  1. If a leak is detected in the eto sterilizer dosing pipeline during the administration process, immediately close the medication bottle, switch and the dosing valve on the main unit. Turn on the axial fan to ensure proper ventilation, and then proceed with repairs.
  2. During the sterilization process, if there is a noticeable change in pressure in the eto sterilizer chamber, indicating a leak or seepage, immediately activate the vacuum pump to evacuate all ethylene oxide gas from the eto sterilizer. Then, disconnect the power supply, conduct an inspection, and take appropriate action. If necessary, open windows for ventilation, turn on the axial fan, and continue with the process.

Handling of Personnel Exposure to Ethylene Oxide

  1. Inhalation Exposure: Excessive inhalation of ethylene oxide can cause respiratory irritation, dizziness, weakness, nausea, vomiting (either immediately or later), chest pain, and neurotoxic reactions. If overexposure occurs, immediately move to an outdoor area to inhale fresh air and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
  2. Eye Exposure: Liquid ethylene oxide splashed into the eyes can cause serious eye injuries, and high concentrations of ethylene oxide gas can cause severe eye irritation. In case of accidental exposure, immediately flush the eyes with clean water for at least 10 minutes, and then seek medical treatment.
  3. Skin Exposure: Liquid ethylene oxide can cause skin irritation, dermatitis, and blisters. If skin contact with liquid ethylene oxide occurs, immediately wash the affected area with water for at least 15 minutes, remove contaminated clothing, and wash the area with soap and water. Seek medical attention as soon as possible.
  4. Gastrointestinal Exposure: Gastrointestinal exposure to ethylene oxide is an uncommon route, but if liquid ethylene oxide enters the digestive system, it can be corrosive and cause severe irritation and burns to the mucous membranes. In such cases, drink 1–2 cups of water and induce vomiting by touching the back of the throat (do not induce vomiting in unconscious individuals). Seek medical attention immediately.

Storage Environment for Ethylene Oxide when using eto sterilizer

  1. Cool, low-temperature (?25°C), well-ventilated environment.
  2. Keep away from light, and direct sunlight, and avoid collisions.
  3. Keep away from sources of fire.
  4. Use explosion-proof electrical equipment in storage areas.
